APPLICATION GUIDELINES FOR THE WRITER'S HOTEL NYC WRITER'S CONFERENCE: JUNE 6-12, 2018

To apply, please send the first 5000 words of a prose manuscript or the first 15 poems of a poetry manuscript. The writing sample must not exceed 20 pages. International applications are welcome. It is $30 to apply. We're looking forward to reading your work.

The application writing sample must be the first pages of a current target manuscript. A target manuscript is a writer's present writing project--the manuscript that the writer will bring to NYC and present to agents or editors. In the application process, we carefully review the first 5000 words (prose) or the first 15 poems of this target manuscript. If we move forward with an application, the writer will be contacted for a brief phone interview. During the interview, the writer will have the chance to discuss their writing and writing goals, and we will offer feedback on those first pages. We notify about acceptance following the interview.

Two very important things to bear in mind when applying to TWH 2018:

1) We are looking for the first 12-15 poems of your target poetry manuscript (15 pages max) OR the first 15-20 pages (5000 words max) of your target prose manuscript (fiction, memoir or narrative nonfiction--we do not work on scripts).**

2) If you are submitting a prose sample, please make sure that your prose sample is double spaced. We will only read approximately ten pages of single spaced material. There is a 5000 word limit in the prose submission field.

**What is a "target manuscript"? A target manuscript is your present writing project, the manuscript you intend to bring with you to NYC, should you be accepted to our program.**

:: Deadline is March 30, 2018. The sooner a writer is accepted, the sooner we can get to work with you on your target manuscript. Thanks so much for your interest. We look forward to reading your work. ::
